Carol Almonte is an undergraduate student at Hunter College, following a pre-medical track and majoring in Media Studies with a concentration in journalism. She was born in the Dominican Republic and was raised both in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and Queens, New York.
She aspires to become a physician and a public health journalist. Carol's career goal within journalism is to deliver information by making complex science and health issues more comprehensible by acting as a bridge between the scientists, health professionals, and consumers to a broad audience of readers, viewers, and listeners.
Her mission is to bring social change by educating, breaking stigmas, and advocating for social injustices and stereotypes within medicine, public health, and journalism in minority communities.
Aside from her love for writing and studying science, in her leisure time, she loves to read, travel, and spend time with her family.
